Development Highlights: McKenzie Towers Resland Development Group is redeveloping the historic McKenzie Seeds Building located in the heart of Downtown Brandon into a mixed use complex that will include commercial space on the main floor and 94 condominium units. Condominium units will range in size from one through three bedroom units and include some loft units. Prices for the condos range from $148,000 to 271,000. Construction is underway with the first units anticipated to be completed in fall 2012. Additional information can be found at http://www.mckenzietowers.ca . Best Western Motel: A new 79 room hotel will soon open in Brandon. Construction began in the fall of 2010 and the hotel is expected to open in the Summer of 2011. The hotel is estimated to be approximately 43,000 sq ft in size. Western Manitoba Cancer Centre The new, $24-million Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, which officially opened on June 30th 2011, brings optimal cancer treatment closer to home for Manitobans living in the western part of the province. The building is an approximately 22,250-square-foot, single-storey building with a partial basement and crawlspace. It is connected to Brandon Regional Health Centre via a tunnel. The building has been constructed in compliance with the Government of Manitoba’s Green Building Policy. The Western Manitoba Cancer Centre provides residents of Brandon and surrounding areas with a regional cancer centre offering chemotherapy, support services and outpatient care, as well as providing radiation therapy services outside of Winnipeg for the first time.

Motel 6: Construction on the new Motel 6 was completed in January 2011. The hotel has 89 rooms with approximately 15 of those being extended stay rooms featuring full kitchenettes and eating areas. The several million dollar project features the light and open living area design of the Motel 6 Phoenix prototype, including a 24 hour food and beverage market place, bright colours, meeting facilities and hot tub. Kristopher Campbell Memorial Skateboard Park: The $1.1 million skate park officially opened in Mid October 2010 and is located on Ninth Street and Princess Avenue, the former site of the famed Prince Edward Hotel. The 25,000 square foot outdoor recreation facility that respects both the unique needs of the skateboarding community and the history of the Eddy. Stairs, rails, jumps, and ramps that skateboarders, rollerbladers and BMX bikers crave are included in the skateboard park. All the way around the perimter there will be heritage signage components that explain the history of the site.
